About This Spot
Stepping into Sandyq Restaurant is like entering a warm embrace of Kazakh tradition paired with a quiet elegance that immediately slows the pace of the day. Nestled in the heart of Turkistan, this country food restaurant offers a setting where cultural heritage is both seen and felt — from the intricate interiors glowing softly beneath chandelier light to the carefully arranged tables inviting you to linger. The atmosphere hums with a gentle respect for the past, creating a space where every detail speaks of the region’s rich culinary story.

Dishes centered around horse meat and lamb, accompanied by freshly baked breads like бауырсақ and other traditional assortments, invite you to taste the essence of Kazakh countryside living. Each bite connects you to the land and its stories, while signature offerings such as the subtly sweet Kazakh tea or refreshing horse milk drinks bring an authentic softness to the table.

Dining at Sandyq is less about rushing through a meal and more about savoring the shared moments of connection, nourishment, and discovery.

One of the upscale traditional restaurants in Kazakhstan, this place exudes elegance with its intricate interiors and beautifully placed tables adorned with chandeliers. From the moment you step inside, you’re enveloped in the cultural and traditional ambiance. Moving on to the food, we were pleasantly surprised to find an attentive English-speaking attendant who offered us some recommendations. We opted for the National Dish, Beshbarmak, which was authentic and served with a yogurt-based pour and chilli oil. The combination of flavors is simply irresistible. Among the desserts, we couldn’t resist the Ice-cream Apple, which was simply delectable. The only downside was the absence of live music that day. We’ll definitely save that for another visit.

Very nice place with great Kazakh food and music! FOOD We came here for some traditional Kazakh food and it was delicious. The meat was well prepared and super soft and flavourful. Baursaki were good as well! I would certainly want to try more of their dishes! DRINKS For drinks, we had Kazakh tea what was a mix or black and green tea! Super delicious and with a hint of sweetness so you don’t even need to add sugar! The name was Otrar! ATMO The decor is simple, yet traditionally Kazakh. They also have live music there that you can enjoy!

It's one of the best restaurants in Kazakhstan where you can experience the Kazakh cuisine. Their horse dishes are recommended.

Traditional Kazakhstani restaurant. The restaurant os designed like a palace. They have huge area for conducting parties. Also they have a back space that opens up to a courtyard, only if the weather permits. Food is also excellent. I have a great traditional food. Staffs are also lovely and kind. Also some of them speak English. The price is also moderate. First time I tried horse meat and it was sooo good and I liked it a lot. It’s atmospheric and ambience give you a pleasant feeling. They also have place for children to play
